Getting the Blend Right
An EPICT licence course consists of a blend of materials and learning methods.

Participants experience individual on-line study through a virtual learning platform, facilitator-led face to face sessions, group activities and peer to peer interaction. Course modules are regularly updated to reflect development in technologies. Resources include:

  • Core training materials
  • Pedagogical articles and research papers
  • Sources of advice and support
  • Exemplar materials and lesson plans
  • Accompanying ICT skills manuals
Duration and Impact
Each module has a notional length of 15 hours duration. The course has a total workload of between 50-120 hours dependent upon the experience of the participant upon entry. EPICT is most appropriate for teachers working in Primary through to end of Junior Cycle sectors and the overall course duration and order in which modules are completed are flexible in order to accommodate individual schools' curriculum planning.

The licence is designed as an introduction to blended learning and ICT professional development techniques for educators. The programme involves face to face training, individual on-line study and collaboration with colleagues. The syllabus, activities and assignments are directly related to the work taking place in the teachers' own classrooms and therefore relevant to and impact upon whole school ICT development. Progression routes enabling further in-depth study at diploma and post-graduate level can be advised.

The EPICT Licence is a competency based certification. Teachers collate their own portfolio of evidence. EPICT Centres and their facilitators adhere to both internal and external moderation procedures ensuring the highest levels of quality assurance.
