"Although many" teachers "professed to having good personal ICT skills and to make wide use of ICT in their personal lives, this did not appear to translate into the classroom. In other words there does not appear to be automatic transferability between good personal ICT skills levels, teachers use of technology outside of school and their use of technology within the classroom. This is the strong point of the EPICT programme as it addresses this dissonance between personal and professional use of ICT. The practice-oriented nature of EPICT has focussed these teachers on the pedagogical uses of ICT in their own classrooms." Dr Deirdre Butler & Margaret Leahy, 2009.

As part of the ongoing up skilling of Teachers in South Dublin County Council's Connect School Project, St Aidan's Community School in Tallaght is running the first pilot of the EPICT licence for teachers working in the Second Level Education sector. eChampion to the Connect School Project, Ronan Herron says:-
"The EPICT Pilot here in the Connect School at St Aidan's Community School, Brookfield, Tallaght addresses some of the main challenges in rolling out ICT in Education - i.e. the provision of pedagogically sound training to Teachers and guidance on creating exciting and interactive digital resources. Since 2006 we have been developing and delivering training through a Core Group of ICT proficient teachers and now feel that our training needs to be more pedagogically rather than technologically based. In addition, the EPICT Training has a clear continuing professional development roadmap and dovetails well with other in-house training."
